Wandering Bookstall is committed to providing our community with a welcoming space to play, create, explore, and discover. In addition to our play areas, we partner with community volunteers, local organizations, and businesses to offer a variety of programs and events for children and families.
Our programming ranges from completely free community events to affordable paid programs and special events. Revenue generated through select paid events helps support our broader mission by allowing us to provide free and reduced-cost programming to families in our community.
Through this community-supported model, Wandering Bookstall is able to create meaningful experiences while keeping access to books, learning opportunities, and enrichment programs as affordable as possible. Every part of our programming works together to help sustain our mission of making curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning accessible to all children.

Join us on October 17 for a special Día de los Muertos celebration and fundraiser at the historic Lyceum inside Sims Library!
Your $10 ticket includes an evening of family fun featuring a screening of Disney’s Coco inside the beautiful historic Lyceum, plus live performances by Mariachi Tejas Lindo and Ballet Folklórico.
Before the movie, enjoy popcorn, apple cider, cookie decorating, and more!
We’ll also have a special Lotería game with BIG prizes! Lotería cards are available for an additional $25 each, with exciting prizes to be won.

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town! 🎄
Santa is making a special stop at Wandering Bookstall, and we’d love for you to join us so Reserve your spot before we sell out!

Each session is one hour and limited to 17 children to ensure every child has the opportunity for an individual moment and photo with Santa
Come in your Christmas pajamas or sweater, bring your wish list, and enjoy a cozy holiday visit with the jolliest guy around!
❤️ And there’s an even bigger reason to celebrate: Proceeds from this event will help fund our Private Christmas Book Fair for children in need throughout Ellis County, while also supporting our year-round programming and community initiatives, including free and affordable events, STEAM activities, literacy programs, and other opportunities for local kids.

Welcome to Music for Littles, an interactive and inclusive early childhood music experience brought to you by A Suite Sound! Designed for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, this program blends play, development, and the joy of sound into a memorable experience for growing minds.
Led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), every session uses intentional, research-backed musical activities to support your child’s development. Through creative themes—ranging from farm adventures to dinosaur discoveries—your little one will explore beginner instruments, practice social communication, and develop fine motor skills in a warm, welcoming environment.

Seeds & Stories
Seeds & Stories is a learning experience where children are invited to step outside, slow down, and discover the magic hiding in the world around them.
Each Seeds & Stories program blends nature, storytelling, and hands-on discovery, often led by a local expert, educator, gardener, naturalist, or storyteller. Children might listen to a story beneath the trees, search for tiny treasures in the garden, learn about the creatures that call our backyard home, or explore the natural world through playful activities and imagination.

Cuentos & Play
Cuentos & Play is a tradition story time in Spanish/Bilingual. We encourage families to play together afterward in one of our many play area and get to know each other! This program will resume some time in late November/December.

Paint & Play
Little artists are invited to get messy, get creative, and let their imaginations take the lead.
These hands-on art workshops give children the chance to explore different materials, techniques, and creative ideas while learning from local artists, makers, and educators. From painting and drawing to playful process art and imaginative projects, each workshop is designed to make creativity feel magical, approachable, and fun.
There are no perfect masterpieces here just curious minds, colorful messes, and plenty of room to imagine, experiment, and create.

Discovery Saturdays
Discovery Saturdays invite curious kids to dig a little deeper, ask big questions, and discover something new!
Each Saturday workshop offers a hands-on opportunity to explore the world around us through science, nature, history, and the fascinating things we find along the way. From fossils and rocks to experiments, collections, and curious discoveries, these programs encourage children to wonder, investigate, and learn through doing.
